My 23 years of experience in the field of massage adds to my passion for understanding the body and how it repairs itself after injury.  I graduated from East-West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon in 2001.  Prior to massage I studied at the University of Iowa and received my Bachelor of Science in Sport, Health, Leisure and Physical studies with an emphasis in Recreation Therapy. I worked with Brain/Spinal cord injury patients and it was through that work that my passion for studying the role that physical touch plays in the healing process began.  After all these years, I am still fascinated with how the body works, how it repairs itself after injury, and recovers from stress. In 2009, an injury to my back eventually required surgery on my L-5 disc, giving me a new perspective on pain and recovery and how integral massage can be to healing.

I had spent 16 years working at the Nob Hill Spa in San Francisco, offering massage and body treatments as well as managing/training a team of 30 massage therapists. I have also worked closely with chiropractors in a clinic setting as well as taught massage technique and kinesiology at the Costa Rica School of Massage.

simply.massage opened its door in August 2021.   These  experiences in all of these settings has molded me into the therapist I am today.

At simply.massage you will experience bodywork that is both therapeutic and relaxing. I have an integrative and intuitive approach. Combining all aspects of Swedish massage with techniques such as trigger-point release, joint mobilization, and deep tissue focus work allows me to deliver a restorative and therapeutic massage.   You can choose to add-on CBD oil to your massage featuring Malaya Botanicals stress relief and pain relief massage oil blends to enhance your experience.   Prenatal/Postnatal massage also available.

In addition, Cupping Therapy is now available to add-on within the time frame of your service at no cost.

Cupping is a form of massage therapy which decompresses soft tissues using vacuum suction, unlike other forms of massage that compresses soft tissues.  During cupping, the cup gently sucks to your skin and lifts underlying soft tissue into the cup.

How does it feel?

Cupping is very relaxing and generally not painful.  The sensation that is experienced is a pulling of the skin as the cup is moved in a rolling fashion.  Redness or a feeling of warmth is usually experienced after the release of the cup due to increased blood flow to the area.

Who can benefit?

Almost anyone can benefit from cupping.  It is used to treat lack of mobility, tight muscles, scars and many diagnoses like headaches, tendinitis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia, and release of trigger points.  It is performed throughout the regular massage session with focus on 1-2 areas.  It is not a full body cupping session.

What to expect after treatment?

Mild soreness is to be expected from the buildup of lactic acid in the muscle tissue, but less soreness than a deep tissue massage. Markings are to be expected and can last up to a week.  Physical exertion and heat are not recommended after the treatment.

Cupping benefits are the following:

  • Release scar tissue and fascial adhesions
  • Reduce painful trigger points
  • Improve circulation, blood and lymph circulation
  • Relieve pain
  • Promote mobility and range of motion
  • Improves mature scars
