With 24 years of experience in the field of massage therapy, my passion for understanding the body and its self-repair mechanisms has only grown. I graduated from East-West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon, in 2001, and prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport, Health, Leisure, and Physical Studies with an emphasis in Recreation Therapy from the University of Iowa. My early work with brain and spinal cord injury patients ignited my interest in how physical touch contributes to the healing process.
My career has been marked by a variety of experiences that have shaped my expertise. I spent 16 years at Nob Hill Spa in San Francisco, where I provided massage and body treatments, managed and trained a team of 30 therapists, and collaborated closely with chiropractors in a clinical setting. Additionally, I taught massage techniques and kinesiology at the Costa Rica School of Massage.
In 2009, a personal injury to my back, which required surgery on my L-5 disc, gave me a new perspective on pain and recovery, reinforcing my belief in the integral role of massage in healing. Since August 2021, I have been channeling my extensive experience into my practice at simply.massage. These diverse experiences across various settings have been instrumental in shaping me into the therapist I am today.
